About the Event
Social open water swims every Thursday evening throughout the summer.
Meeting location and time will be confirmed by the organiser each week in the club WhatsApp group.
While these social open water swims are aimed at bringing together club members to enjoy the benefits of open water swimming, if you are interested in joining us then please do contact the club via our website or at nevistriathlonclub@gmail.com and you'll be welcome to join us for a swim or two before committing to joining the club.
Please be aware: Nevis Triathlon Club are not able to assume legal responsibility to swimmers or others joining Nevis Triathlon Club open water social swim sessions. While we are always keen to share our passion for outdoor swimming, all swimmers must be solely responsible for making their own assessment as to the risks involved in any swim. The decision to participate in any swim must therefore be taken individually; If you are in any doubt about the safety of a swim or your ability to complete it, you should not take part. By joining a Nevis Triathlon Club swim you are accepting that you are swimming with others at entirely your own risk.
We recommend that all swimmers:
- Wear a wet suit to aid buoyancy, retain body heat, and protect from water borne infection.
- Wear a bright swim hat for visibility. Club hat is good!
- Before entering water, group into a pair (or three) of similar ability, and when swimming always keep an eye on partner.
- When finished swimming, check that your partner is out of the water.
- Always swim within your abilities
- When entering the water look out for any object in the water, foreign or natural, which might cause harm, e.g. glass metal or stone.
- Before entering the water, understand the environment where the group will swim, the route, and any regrouping point, water conditions and any potential conflict with other water users.
- Are aware that the signal to attract attention is to turn onto back and raise one arm in the air.
